Welcome to another ear candy experience of Divaz At Work. I was inspired to create this Tribute to the Icon Chaka Khan after seeing her leave us speechless @ Prospect Park last week. Chaka is one of the most electrifying, talented, prolific and celebrated performers of our time and has always been one of my favorite female soul artists for decades.
Yvette Marie Stevens (born March 23, 1953), better known by her stage name Chaka Khan, is an American singer whose career has spanned four decades, beginning in the 1970s as the frontwoman and focal point of the funk band Rufus. Widely known as the Queen of Funk, Khan has won ten Grammys and has sold an estimated 70 million records worldwide.
Chaka has the rare ability to sing in seven music genres, including R&B, pop, rock, gospel, country, jazz and classical. She is revered by millions of fans as well as her peers for her timeless, classic and unmatched signature music style and ability. Chaka’s influence can be heard in the music of the likes of the late Vesta Williams, Mary J. Blige, Faith Evans and many other songstresses of the day.
So I bring to you, what I believe to be the best of her work…Chaka Khan…STILL EVERY WOMAN. Please Njoy The QUEEN OF FUNK….
