Creativity knows no boundaries – the legendary multi-Grammy nominated artist, pianist, R&B singer, composer, record producer, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and music director Patrice Rushen has been a wanderer between styles throughout her career. In the late 70s and early 80s she merged jazz finesse with disco elements, soul and funk to a higher level of sophisticated R&B.

Patrice Rushen is fashioning her career after the legacy of her long-time friend and mentor, Quincy Jones, who once told her: “First of all, you’re going to have to very, very good.” A piece of advice she successfully heeded. Cultural or musical boundaries have never stopped her.

The podcast tribute "Forget Me Nots" pays homage to the versatile career of Patrice Rushen - from her beginnings with the legendary jazz label Prestige Records to her successful Elektra / Asylum years to her solo work in the mid-80s and 90s. The selection was compiled by Thomas Splett and tastefully mixed by Malone DiMano.
